It was once a massive star that suffered what many
astrophysicists call gravitational collapse. As a star’s
hydrogen fuel diminishes over billions of years, its
own internal gravity forces it to shrink smaller and
smaller. Thus, as a star’s entire mass is forcibly
compressed into an ever-shrinking diameter, its gravity
becomes proportionally stronger. At some point, the
star finally experiences complete gravitational collapse.
The dead star is now a spherical object only a fraction
of its original size. Yet, this object possesses an
immense, nearly infinitely powerful gravitational field.
Regardless, this stellar object, or singularity as some would call it, is one of the deadliest stellar objects known to
exist. It is the ultimate black death. At a specific distance from a black hole is the point of no return for any object.
This point of no return is called the event horizon. Any object crossing the event horizon is doomed to complete
destruction. These immense gravitational forces make it virtually impossible for any physical object to escape. The
object is pulled into the black hole and is literally torn to sub-atomic particles. That object can be as small as a rock or
it can be as large as the planet Jupiter. Size is irrelevant. A black hole's gravity is so immensely powerful, that a beam
of light traveling at 186,000 miles per second is bent toward it and is pulled into the black hole-never to escape.

It is with these factors in mind that a brave physicist, Slovas Theamas Larian, comes up with an ultraradical and lethal
idea. Larian, without question, is among the top and most brilliant research physicists on his world. His
comprehensive knowledge of astrophysics, theoretical research and subsequent applications thereof, along with his
outstanding leadership is responsible for making his firm, Tavus-Alverand Corporation, the dominant force on his
world. Larian is also a highly arrogant and ruthless individual. Larian has two goals: Absolute power and unlimited
wealth. He secretly proposes to his colleagues an idea that horrifies many people. He proposes using a black hole's
immense gravitational forces to create a gravitic weapon of incalculable power. If the endeavor is successful, then he
and his associates will become the most powerful individuals in the entire galaxy.

The harnessing of a black hole's immense gravitational forces, the principal factor in this challenge, would be the most
technologically difficult and lethal endeavor ever attempted by any alien race. The problems encountered would be
enormous on a galactic scale. Yet, Larian is up to this serious challenge. He would possess the ultimate galactic
weapon. No planetary civilization or military force in existence could stand up to its immense power. Larian envisions
a grand scenario in which he and his associates would demand the vast wealth and total obedience of entire inhabited
worlds. "No one," he boasts to his associates, "absolutely no one-would be able to stop us." The thought of
becoming a galactic ruler, the first ever in history, grips him. "First," Larian tells them, "all we need to do is move one
person out of the way." Without delay, the others heartily agree.
It is now a black hole, a stellar object that is still hotly debated among the scientific community.
